Lauren Blackford is a southeast Michigan-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist.
Spending her youth in choirs and theater productions, Lauren itched for any opportunity to perform. As early as age 5, the now 21-year-old exhibited vocal talents and an interest in piano, in which she took lessons for several years. Shortly after, she began composing original songs inspired by Taylor Swift, Sara Bareilles, and P!nk. Lauren spent her high school years learning music production, recording roughly 50 demos in two years. Following graduation, Blackford taught herself to play guitar and began performing at local cafés. Since then, she’s racked up a collection of diverse venues throughout the state and beyond, including a stage at the Ann Arbor Art Fair in 2023. While her live performances emphasize wistful acoustics, Lauren’s eclectic indie production shines behind the scenes.
Her self-produced debut EP, “One Too Many Times”, is set for release in April 2024. Completely self-written, the project showcases a collection of songs that showcase Blackford’s diverse range and distinct writing style. From folksy ballads to alternative rock, her emotion-driven melodies couple unexpected yet refreshing lyricism, and hit homes with audiences of all ages. Her lively performances and interpersonal charm have pegged her as a fan favorite in her hometown of Milan, Michigan, but crowds everywhere agree: Lauren Blackford is an up-and-comer to be reckoned with.
